Team Adelaide
Our volunteer coaches are essential to the success of Girls on the Run… there would be no GOTR without them! In order to fully support each coach and continuously improve our coaching team, we strive to conduct site visits with every team each season.
Team Adelaide volunteers help conduct site visits and support our volunteer coaches. This is a great role for volunteers who want to support GOTR but cannot commit to coaching.
Requirements
- Attend a 30-min training session
- Consent to a background check
- Visit a minimum of three GOTR sites during the upcoming season (most teams meet immediately after school dismissal; must be available for at least one 2:30-4:00pm visit)
- Time commitment: about 10 hours, including training and preparation for visits
- Sign a non-compete clause
- Previous GOTR involvement preferred (but not required)
- If no previous experience as a GOTR coach, must also attend the 4-hour coach training
- Completed Volunteer Application
Role
- Assess the available practice space at site – indoor and out – for safety and effectiveness for running
- Assess the relationship between the coaches and girls
- Provide encouragement and support to the girls
- Provide encouragement and support to the coaches
- Complete site review form and submit to GOTR staff within 48 hours of visit
- Report any concerns or needs raised/identified at site during visit to GOTR staff within 48 hours of visit
- Send follow-up email to coaches visited offering encouragement, appreciation and recognition as appropriate
