Board Member
The Board of Directors advises, governs, guides, and promotes GOTR Columbia so as to support the organization’s mission and needs. The Board meets on a monthly basis. Board terms are 2 years in length and may be renewed if approved by the Board. Please complete and submit the GOTR Board Application if you would like to apply to serve on the board.
Major Responsibilities
Members of the Board of Directors share the following responsibilities while acting in the interest of GOTR Columbia. Each member is expected to make recommendations based on his or her experience and vantage point in the community.
- Organizational leadership and advisement
- Legal guidance and responsibility
- Financial management, including adoption and oversight of the annual budget
- Oversight of program planning and evaluation
- Formulation and oversight of policies and procedures
- Evaluation of the Executive Director
- Review of organizational and programmatic reports
- Fundraising and outreach
- Promotion of the organization
Qualifications
The preferred qualifications of Board of Directors members include:
- A passion for helping prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living
- Ability to contribute time to GOTR including meetings and volunteer hours in support of GOTR-sponsored events
- Connections to the Columbia community
- Experience in at least one of the following areas:
-Financial management
-Non-profit law
-Strategic planning
-Fundraising
-Marketing
-Non-profits
